Class

Pointe, by the teacher's call

Pointe begins when a teacher and a student agree that it is time, and not on a birthday. Students in the same level start at different times, and some wait longer. Your teacher will tell you and your student together.

  • A decision made with each student

  • Preparation at the barre comes first

  • Classes of up to 8

How pointe begins

A gradual start, one step after another.

  1. 01

    Step 1: A conversation

The teacher talks with the student and the family about what she has seen in class.

  2. 02

Step 2: Strengthening at the barre

Exercises for the feet and legs, in the regular class and in pointe preparation.

  3. 03

    Step 3: A fitting

We tell you where to go for a fitting when the time comes, and the teacher checks the shoes.

  4. 04

Step 4: A few minutes in class

Pointe starts as a short part of the barre, with the teacher beside the student.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Slowly more

Pointe grows a little each month, as the student is ready.

Before you start

Before the first class

  • What to wear

The same leotard, tights and hair as the regular class. Pointe shoes arrive only after the conversation with the teacher.

  • Length and size

Pointe preparation meets on Saturday for 60 minutes, by invitation, in classes of up to 8.

  • Telling us about pain

If something hurts, tell your teacher before class. We change what the student does that day, and a student is never asked to push through pain.
